Real-Time Updates

Warm-Up Lap Period

The formation lap is underway.

Circuit Details

We have 19 laps of the longest circuit in Formula One, the commentator informs us.

Countdown

The last moments is underway.

Driver Situation

One point in Max Verstappen's advantage: his fellow driver Tsunoda is in front of him by one place. He is unlikely to interfere with Red Bull's main man.

Media Conversations

Sky's internal discussion currently: the analyst is at the Mercedes team.

Karun Chandhok is looking forward to the 2026 season, interviewing Adrian Newey about his promotion to the team lead role.

Starting Positions

Just sixteen vehicles on the grid. This followed another poor grid-setting session for the driver: following his result of twentieth and final in Las Vegas, leading to an eighth position in the grand prix, he did not manage to advance of Q1 again on the previous day. Ferrari have consequently adjusted to his setup and so he begins from the pit lane.

Aston Martin's Stroll and the Alpine duo of Gasly and Franco Colapinto are all starting from the same position.

Driver Comments

"We take the learning for tomorrow," says Isack Hadjar, starting eleventh. Expect a lot of that.

Team Standings

It's not all about the drivers' title: McLaren have dominated the team championship but Mercedes, with a forty-point advantage over Red Bull, are aiming to secure the runner-up position this weekend. George Russell can help them achieve that from second place, and Kimi Antonelli will start just behind Verstappen.

Previous Results

Oscar Piastri was victorious then – as he managed last year, too. The driver from McLaren is attempting a hat-trick.

Short Race Importance

Right, just over twenty minutes to go till the sprint race gets under way. Unless something goes wrong, it's greatest value is as an indication of what is to come, rather than highly important in its itself, with only eight points awarded to the victor. However, the runner-up spot here was sufficient for the driver to claim the title in a prior season.

The driver wins the championship following his teammate's accident of Qatar GP sprint race.
